4th Festival of Polish Folklore – Manchester – 2001

10 & 11 February 2001

There was a slightly longer gap between the 3rd and 4th festivals due to a number of groups travelling together to Poland in 1999 (see “History”).  It was also decided that the Festival should “go on tour” around the UK.  Manchester was chosen and the shows took place at The Lowry, Salford Quays.

Groups which performed

Eleven groups took part in each of the two concerts over the weekend: Karolinka – London, Karpaty – Southampton, Klosy – Cambridge, Mazury – London, Mlody Las – Slough, Oberek – Swindon, Orleta – London, Polesie – Leicester, Polonez – Manchester, Tatry – London and Zywiec – London. Giewont were unable to take part at the last minute. Iwona Januszajtis, a mezzo soprano, compered the shows and sang a medley of songs.
