1st Festival of Polish Folklore Lemaington Spa - 1993

6 & 7 February 1993

Royal Leamington Spa was chosen as the venue for the first festival due to its central location in the UK.  It was the first time folklore groups from across the UK had come together to share the beauty of Polish folklore with British audiences.

Groups which performed

Twelve groups took part in each of the two concerts which were staged over the weekend: Giewont – London, Karolinka – London, Karpaty – Southampton, Klosy – Cambridge, Lajkonik – Peterborough, Orleta – London, Polesie – Leicester, Polonez – Manchester, Syrena – Melton Mowbray, Tatry – London, Wiesniacy – Birmingham and Zywiec – London.  The shows were compered by Iwona Januszajtis, a mezzo soprano, who also sang during the shows.
